MAJOR TV STARS HEADLINE A PACKED PROGRAMME AT THE GARDEN ROOMS THIS SPRING
The Garden Rooms at Tennants in Leyburn has launched its schedule for Spring, with a packed programme of talks, concerts and themed events including major British TV personalities Sir Trevor McDonald and Ross Kemp. Journalist and newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald heads the line-up of speakers on Thursday 21st March when he will recount his fascinating personal experience of world events and his eyewitness accounts of news stories that have shaped his career. On 24th April, actor, author, and television presenter Ross Kemp will make a rare personal appearance, telling stories from his time on EastEnders to his award-winning documentary series, Ross Kemp on Gangs as well as filming in active war zones across the world.
Musical highlights for Spring include an eclectic mix of brass, classical and rock, kicking off with 9-time British Champions the Cory Band who will appear on 21st March. The band is one of the oldest and best-known brass bands in the world having formed in 1884 in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales. They have been winning international recognition since 1980 when they first became European Champions and regularly tour internationally to wide acclaim. On 24th March, Richmondshire Orchestra return once more for a much-anticipated classical concert of Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. At the end of April, the UK’s biggest Queen Tribute Band, Majesty will be performing the Best of Queen and celebrating the music and showmanship of the UK’s favourite rock band.
Paul Freeman, Director of Events and Hospitality at The Garden Rooms said: ‘Following the success of last year’s programme of lectures, talks and concerts, we are very delighted to once again attract well-known personalities and high-profile musical acts to The Garden Rooms and we are excited to offer such a wide-ranging programme of events again this year’.
Alongside these headline acts are a range of themed events and exhibitions, including a fascinating free to enter exhibition of vintage postcards, depicting Swaledale, predominately dating from 1900-1925. The exhibition runs until 18th February. Food lovers can enjoy Winter Warmers in the Bistro and themed events include A Day at The Races: Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday 15th March and a special Valentine’s Afternoon Tea on 14th February.
Tennants Auctioneers are also offering guided Behind the Scenes Tours throughout the year, to coincide with its major sales of Arts and Antiques.
